Armstrong Flooring, has a job opportunity available for a Lumber Preparation Process Control Coordinator to be located at the plant in Beverly, WV. The Lumber Preparation Process Control Coordinator primary purpose is to assist yard and kilns leadership in sustaining and improving key quality and productivity functions . Primary focus areas would be kiln drying, air-drying, lumber inspection and quality. The Lumber Preparation Process Control Coordinator opportunity has been created due to the ongoing expansion of operations in Beverly so the role may require shift work.

Key Responsibilities of the Lumber Preparation Process Control Coordinator :

  • Collect, cut, weigh, and record samples from air-yard

  • Collect, weigh, and record samples from kilns

  • Inspect lumber as needed.

  • Assist with yard productivity improvement work as needed.

  • Assist with kiln & yard maintenance as needed

  • Complete all tasks assigned by Lumber Preparation Manager

  • Support Yard/Kilns leadership team with execution of SQDC

  • Support and lead continuous improvement efforts within the lumber preparation operation.

  • Train coworkers to safely and effectively execute on STW.

  • Support and backfill receiving clerk as needed.

Required Qualifications of the Lumber Inspector:

  • Knowledge of different variance of grains/defects in lumber

  • Inspect lumber according to NHLA standards or be trained to do so.

  • The ability to operate or be trained to operate all yard/ kiln department forklifts.

  • The ability to operate or be trained to operate the JLG man lift.

  • Must display effective communication skills with co-workers
